Psychosis Counselling in South London, London
I also have deep interest in working with people who have experienced psychosis, and related illnesses.
I work integratively, my training was in existential psychotherapy. This means I believe that life is naturally going to present struggles and that we need to navigate our way through life's givens: loneliness, anxiety and death are all givens of our life. I believe that the goal of therapy is to create space to reflect and align oneself with one's values and understand our limitations. I believe that trauma has a lasting impact on our bodies and minds, and that through understanding the mind-body connection, healing can ultimately take place. I currently hold a post working in GP practices with the NHS.

I have worked with patients from different backgrounds with varying issues, such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and personality-related problems.
Fear and other emotions, such as shame, as well as as familiar yet unhealthy patterns in our thinking, behaviour, and relationships can keep us stuck. Psychotherapy can help. In my work so far, I’ve witnessed many clients change and find healthier ways to connect to themselves and the world. I have practiced psychotherapy in Beirut and New York City, before coming to London.

I specialise in Trauma (including PTSD), Psychosis, Bipolar, Anxiety Spectrum problems, Depression, Bereavement, with over 11 yrs.
You may experience unexpected disruption, chronic conditions, major life upheaval, triggering of past experiences, bereavement, and any of these could create anxiety, trauma or depression. Understanding could fall away, your support system could become unhelpful, anti-depressants may not be effective and your coping mechanisms may not work. You may feel overpowered by your circumstances and perhaps seek support and reinforcement as you experience distress. You may want your complex issues to be contained and get some tools and techniques to cope. Perhaps you may just like to confide in someone and share your experience.

Sometimes we reach a point in life where we struggle to see clearly and we even become uncertain about the future and even begin to question our relationships. For some of us, its unhealthy patterns and cycles that we keep on repeating, and find difficult to break free from. There are times in our lives, where the dark cloud of depression overpowers us and it feels like there is no escape, or anxiety that can at times feel crippling. At times we question our self worth and need help rebuilding our confidence back, and restabilising purpose in our lives. Whatever the issues are that you are facing, change is possible!

You have already made a brave and important step on the journey to well-being and self-discovery, by enquiring about having therapy. As a Clinical Psychologist, I am passionate about helping people to realise the values, knowledge, and skills that they already hold, and how the awareness of this can enable them to live full, vibrant and satisfying lives. I believe that it is important to learn skills to help people cope with the present and the future, as well as making sense of past experiences to understand patterns that are happening in your life currently.

Everyone's life experience is unique and important and often this can create questions in our minds on how these influence our life and choices now. These may be questions from childhood, trauma based, gender or sexuality questioning, anxiety, loss or a neurodiversity. You may feel that the day-to-day is simply overwhelming or tainted by those life experiences. Sometimes, when those hard times flow into our every day life it may feel that you are unable to be happy, think clearly or feel able to cope. In the safety of your own home (or a space that works for you) we can explore and process this together.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
